The former Mid-Manhattan Library has been reimagined as the Stavros Niarchos Foundation Library. NYPL’s largest branch offers access to 400,000 books and materials plus dedicated spaces for learning services and gathering, including a new rooftop terrace for all New Yorkers. The building has been renovated and expanded to 180,000 sf and now features double the seating and computers. Dramatic interventions such as the three-story “Long Room” and a rooftop “Wizard’s Hat,” which houses program and event space, creatively solve functional needs with iconic architecture.
