Entry Description

The covered hall was rebuilt to protect the main shrine from the elements for another 100 years or more. The main hall is a city-designated cultural property, and was renovated and restored at the same time as the rebuilding of the covered hall, without damaging the main hall.
The new covered hall is an epoch-making fusion of old and new technologies, including the use of the traditional Japanese "traditional construction method" without hardware, the "Ishiba-built" method of building on paving stones, and the use of "marginal bearing capacity calculation" for structural calculations.

Bio

In Japan, traditional techniques that have been passed down from generation to generation are on the decline, and it is becoming increasingly difficult to maintain the skills of traditional craftsmen.
As a temple carpenter and designer, he has participated in numerous architectural awards to convey the new possibilities of traditional techniques to young designers and builders by creating "attractive structural beauty" and "beauty of use" architecture based on the evolution of traditional techniques from the inheritance of traditional techniques.
