Turnip Rose, located in the heart of a congested city of Costa Mesa, intended to be a modern, delightful and cozy café.
Accordingly, design process started with creation of a focal piece: a round seating booth in the middle of the space. This feature then blossoms and branches out on the ceiling to replicate pedal structure of a rose. As a matter of fact, the layered circular ceiling soffits were deliberately shaped in a way they are to demonstrate abstracted rose flowers. This floral characteristic expresses Island Style using new forms and techniques.
Turnip Rose was inspired by Island Style, however, this style got simplified, abstracted, distorted, and it got presented within a totally new framework. This is why Turnip Rose is matchless and remarkable from every aspect possible.
