Nestled within Xiang’er Hutong in central Beijing, the project has a total area of just 34 sqm. The project consists of two parts: a coffee bar (19 sqm) and a guest room (15 sqm) linked by a courtyard shared with a local elderly neighbour.
Owners of the coffee business wanted to bring serious artesian coffee to their customers in a limited space. The key role of the architectural and interior design becomes how to provide such a coffee-centric experience to its customers emphasising focus on just a good cup of coffee.
The guest house was originally envisioned to become staff accommodation for the coffee bar by the owner. But with great intention, Office AIO suggests it be transformed to become a luxurious (for it's context) yet simplistic private courtyard guest room.
