The challenge was to pay homage to both Singapore’s glimmering skyline and Italy’s unmistakable charm in one of Singapore’s most iconic spaces, The Fullerton Pavilion, with its striking circular architecture, floor to ceiling windows and exposed architectural elements.
From the offset, the breathtaking 180-degree views of the Marina Bay area had to be centre stage, and the interiors had to compliment, not dominate, the new Italian restaurant for hospitality giants The 1-Group.
Our main inspiration for the restaurant was The Villa Necchi Campiglio; A sublime masterpiece in the centre of Milan which played host to Luca Guadagnino's much-loved 2009 movie 'I am Love'. The house is a seminal example of how, in the 1930's, the new industrial modern architectural language of the time merged with the opulence of traditional Italian aesthetics.
