The design of this duplex centered around our client’s typical day and their emotional connection to the home. We wanted something that not only filled their needs for a home but inspired them in their daily lives. We strove to create moments rather than spaces, whether it’s encouraging the chance to be social and meeting the many neighbors that walk the area or watching the sun set over the ocean at the end of the work day. We were inspired by our client’s propensity for natural light so we knew that glazing and transparency were going to be essential parts of the aesthetic for both units. We strove for a duality between units where both feel separate yet part of the same whole. We felt this was not only important for the client and the future buyer but the overall aesthetic and character of the home in its surrounding community.
