Entry Description

The EQR Breakwater Discovery Walk is located behind the Breakwater housing community, just inside the Marina del Rey Harbor in California. Boasting views of the Pacific Ocean, the walk has become part of a larger set of walking and biking trails already frequented by the community. Its unique location at the very edge of the marina lends itself to some of the best wildlife viewing in the area; everything from dolphins, whales, numerous types of birds, fish, and both familiar and exotic plants call the surrounding space ‘home.’ The signs were designed and strategically placed to guide visitors in finding the exciting wildlife and plants nearby, and to raise awareness about ways to help keep the earth, and the ocean, healthy and beautiful. One panel also features a condensed history of Marina del Rey, and the story behind it becoming the largest man-made pleasure boat harbor in the world.
