Entry Description

The new Eaton Centre store, is Sak’s first flagship in more than 40 years, occupying
123,000sf in the historic Hudson’s Bay building at Queen & Yonge Streets. Connected to
the renovated Hudson’s Bay by a sky bridge, the new Saks features women’s
contemporary, designer ready-to-wear, men’s sportswear, designer handbags, shoes,
accessories, and extensive jewelry and beauty selections. The space was re-imagined
as a gallery-like environment, inspired by the beauty and power of Toronto’s natural
setting, the result was a collaboration between FRCH and Saks Fifth Avenue’s internal
design and planning teams. The team was inspired by the drama of Canada's natural
environment to create three interweaving design stories – the serene ripple effect of
the rain, the rough texture of forest and the anticipation of movement during a storm.
Local artists were commissioned to create expressive, sculptural installations and
surface treatments that brought this inspiration to life.
