Entry Description

Commissioned by Rijksmuseum Boerhaave, Studio Louter created spectacular animations that engage the visitor’s body in the history of science. The visitor places his arm on a table and he sees a scalpel cut it open. Vesalius’ 17th century anatomical research is projected and explained on his arm. Another animation incorporates the visitor’s own heartbeat in a story about ECG. Both Vesalius’ research and ECG have laid the groundwork for modern medical knowledge. Seeing his own body become part of the animation, the visitor realizes that science is in the most literal sense affecting his life.
