For this assignment, each student was asked to create an elaborate invitation inspired by a dress from the Guo Pei: Couture Beyond exhibit presented at SCAD FASH in Atlanta, Georgia. Each invitation had to display different methods of foiling and use of a die cut. The goal of this project was for each student to create a design that accurately portrayed the essence of their dress of choice while also exhibiting high quality craftsmanship through specialized production methods. I was drawn to and inspired by Guo Pei's Ming vase gown in both its shape and intricate patterning.
I am currently a senior at the Savannah College of Art and Design (SCAD) in Atlanta, Georgia. This past summer, I had the opportunity to be a part of the National Cash Register Corporation's (NCR) in-house design team where I assisted in developing collateral in various formats. I believe that everyone deserves good design, and I look forward to applying what I have learned in school to a professional setting.
