Archetype North_ Rethinking waterfront design - site specific “broken” modernism

Archetype North seeks a new approach to waterfront design in which the materials, scale and siting of the structure are linked to the distinct characteristics of Northern Ontario’s waterfront and landscape. This project under construction on the edge of the Canadian Shield uses modern forms “dropped” on the site and “broken” to fit site views and topography. The intent is to develop an authentic distinct regional style that links new material possibilities to specific site characteristics.
