The Drents Archief manages a rich collection of personal writings that illuminate the local side of the Second World War. The archive sought to share these local war stories with young people. We designed and developed the innovative, interactive educational program ‘War Diary of Drenthe’. It takes pupils inside the lives of five young people who experienced the war. Working with ego-documents and primary sources the pupils create a graphic novel about one of them. With the aid of augmented reality, pupils play the role of the protagonist.
