The M.Rich & Bros.Co. building was designed by Hentz, Reid & Adler opened in 1924. The Italian Palazzo style was a popular style in the design of department stores constructed in the early twentieth century. It is significant in that it was the focus of retail shopping in downtown Atlanta and from which Civil Rights leader Martin Luther King, Jr. was apprehended at the Magnolia Room restaurant. Following historic design guidelines, and returning the building to its' original intent, the rehabilitation of Rich's can recreate a growing and boosting shopping experience in Atlanta.
