TO PROFILE THE WORK OF DESIGNERS, ILLUSTRATORS, CGI ARTISTS PHOTOGRAPHERS AND MODEL MAKERS WHO ARE MEMBERS OF THE SOCIETY OF ARCHITECTUAL ILLUSTRATORS. As this is a compendium of 60 professional illustrators, photographers and CGI artists who are all members/fellows of The Society of Architectural Illustration (SAI.org.uk) I had to get permission to make my submission as the designer. I designed each page of the book, liaised with over sixty artists (!), named the book and managed to get Lord Norman Foster to write the preface. The whole process of design and print management was handled by me at no design/AW cost to The SAI. The purpose of the book is to showcase the variety and skill of the members of the society in their depiction of architecture.
I WAS TRAINED AS A GRAPHIC DESIGNER AT BATH ACADEMY OF ART, THEN A POST GRADUATE DEGREE AT THE ROYAL COLLEGE OF ART. I WAS ASKED TO JOIN NORMAN FOSTER ARCHITECTS AS MY FIRST JOB, I THEN WENT ON TO HEAD UP THE GRAPHIC DESIGN TEAM WITH MINALE TATTERSFIELD AT MILTON KEYNES NEW CITY. I WORKED IN BOOK PUBLISHING FOR FOUR YEARS, THEN SET UP MY OWN DESIGN COMPANY, JWALTD WHICH HAS BEEN RUNNING FOR 25 YEARS.
