Entry Description

SS 2017 senior collection shown at New York Fashion Week and FashionArt Santa Cruz. I was inspired by the Fauvist oeuvre of Andrè Derain, first-hand experiences with climate change in my home state of Alaska, gay icon Peter Berlin and the idea of shamanistic streetwear. I made use of repurposed t-shirts throughout my collection, and employed eco-friendly processes wherever possible in designing my textiles. Denim fabrics were treated with hand-painted batik and discharge techniques to produce various animal motifs. 'Daubs' of color (scrap jersey and denim) were appliqued to various garments, expanding upon their depth and texture.

Bio

Alien.Eleven is an ethical fashion brand out of Fruitvale, Oakland, CA. We started less than a year ago and have already had our sustainably-directed collections featured in magazines out of London and throughout the US.
We work in conjunction with a Bay Area non-profit; we are the first fiscally-sponsored fashion label. This allows us to operate with ‘non profit DNA’ and accept tax-deductible donations that go towards fair wages and creative, eco-friendly practices for non-binary fashion and street wear.
