This coastal home is situated a precipice with panoramic views. Carefully folded into a hillside, it maintains a sense of intimacy by nestling among the site’s oak trees and Monterey pines. The formal language was inspired by terraced landscapes and shade canopy structures that respond to the sloping terrain. Earthen-colored, board-formed concrete walls and mortar-set stone walls retain the hillside and carve out living spaces. Cedar slats stream filtered sunlight into open-air terraces, continuing inside to cover the ceilings and enhance the indoor-outdoor experience.
