The International Design Awards and the F3 Foundation present:
The celebration of the 2009 and 2010 International Design Awards finalists, and the announcement of the 2011 F3 Student Design Competition launch on May 15th, 2011.

Los Angeles, CA, April 25, 2011- The International Design Awards (IDA) and the F3 Foundation are pleased to announce the culminating awards ceremony and reception for the 2009 and 2010 IDA finalists, and the announcement of the 2011 F3 Student Furniture Design Competition launch. The event will take place on Sunday May 15th, 2011 from 5pm to 8pm at dTank in Burbank, California, and will receive an expected crowd of about 300 guests, including competition winners, notable designers and design enthusiasts.

The IDA competitions of years past have been extremely successful and the organization continues to grow. Hossein Farmani of Farmani Group commented, "We doubled our entries this year, not only in the US, but in Asia and Europe as well." To date, designers from over 76 countries (on six continents) have submitted their work for consideration. The 2009 and 2010 winners include Corinne Grassin (Society for Rational Dress, 2009), Akira Yoneda (K Clinic, 2009), fuseproject (Herman Miller SAYL Chair, 2009), and MIT (Zicbox, 2010). Returning jurors Josh Rubin (founder, Cool Hunting), Hans Fonk (Editor-in-Chief, OBJEKT International) and Lise Coirier (Editor-in-Chief, TL) joined Aaron Kenedi (Editor-in-Chief, Print), William Menking (Editor-in-Chief, The Architect's Newspaper), and Alice Blackwood (Editor-in-Chief, Design Quarterly), among others, to serve on this year's jury panel.

The F3 Foundation is a private foundation created by Reto Eberle, CEO of dTank, Inc. The F3 Foundation aims to bring furniture design back into the realm of interior designers and architects and promotes innovation in furniture design within the context of interior environments that engage human interaction.

In an effort to inspire architecture and interior design programs to incorporate furniture design as part of their core curriculum, the F3 Foundation created the F3 Student Furniture Design Competition. The competition provides a launching pad for college and University undergraduate students to explore furniture design as an integral part of design practice. Students enter the competition by submitting a design concept presentation based on the F3 provided design brief. Visit the F3 Awards website in May after the official launch to view the 2011 design brief.

In 2011, the International Design Awards and the F3 Foundation entered a partnership in order to integrate the international success of the IDA competition with the innovative technique of the F3 Student Furniture Design Competition.

IDA exists to recognize, celebrate and promote legendary design visionaries and to uncover emerging talent in Architecture, Interior, Product, Graphic, and Fashion Design. IDA draws attention to the iconoclasm of design worldwide: conceptualizing and producing great work.

Farmani Group assembled IDA as the design sibling of the Annual Lucie Awards for Photography, which has emerged as one of the world's most prestigious photography awards.
