The X8 Tower is a newly proposed mixed-use residential development in the heart of downtown Vancouver. The 35 storey tower comprises of diverse components, each having their own unique architectural expression; a school that fronts out onto the park, commercial units adjacent to the street, 9 lower levels of rental residential units, and 25 upper levels of market residential units.
The development incorporates a number of innovative mechanical and passive sustainable design features to meet LEED Gold certification. These features include a geothermal heating system, electrochromatic glazing, thermally broken balconies, and extensive exterior louvered shading.
To allow for increased density on this site, the client entered a contractual agreement with the City of Vancouver to design and build a 162 unit social housing building on an adjacent site, currently nearing completion.
The 1111 Richards Street development is due to commence construction in Summer 2016.
