Fado is a music genre deep-rooted in Portugal’s history. But Portugal is much more than tradition. Lisbon, considered Europe’s new creative hub, is super trendy. The Festival intent is to bring contemporary Fado musicians to the trendiest city in the world: NYC. So the challenge for the visual identity was to use traditional elements, like tiles (representing Portugal) and hearts (representing Fados’ melancholy, intimacy, soulfulness) with a twist to express contemporaneity and freshness. At the end, the identity gave a fresh look to traditional elements, just like the Portugal of today.
I work as Creative Director, Art Director and Visual Designer for advertising, design and digital agencies. On the side, I focus on creative projects for the arts & culture industry, as well as personal visual arts projects.
I love what I do. I love coming up with innovative ideas, creating visual identities, exploring looks & feels, and I love doing it by being hands-on or by directing a team of diversified talents. My focus on craft and passion for solving visual and conceptual problems naturally led every step of my career. From the very beginning working for award-winning creative shops
